Does UC Irvine have a pre-med major?

Contrary to common belief, "premedicine" usually is not an academic major. The term "premedicine" refers, rather, to the body of undergraduate course work that all students must take in order to be considered to the medical, dental, pharmacy, optometry, podiatry, or veterinary school. Since these fields are studied at the graduate level, you first need to work toward your bachelor's degree. For information on how you can get on track for one of these careers at UC Irvine, visit "Medicine and Other Health Professions".
