Resuming Your Education as a Re-entry Student

If you are an adult aged 25 or older and have either experienced a significant break in your education or are considering earning a University degree for the first time, you may be a re-entry student. (If you have ever attended UC Irvine as a student in a regular session, you should contact the Registrar's Office for information on the Readmission Program or call (949) 824-6124.)

Re-entry students constitute a unique component of the UC Irvine campus population, one that contributes to the richness, breadth and dimension of this university. UC Irvine's re-entry students come from a variety of professional, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. Many have families; many have jobs; some have pursued not one, but a number of careers; and some have attended several universities. They present a very diverse and interesting group.

You can contact the re-entry student advisor directly for assistance in learning about UC Irvine's academic majors and programs of study, UC Irvine's admission requirements, and how to apply when you are ready (and how to know when you ARE ready). In addition, the re-entry student advisor can refer you to appropriate campus support services for childcare, financial aid, and on- and off-campus housing. You can also look at the requirements for transfer students for information on how to meet admission requirements.
