All majors must:

Note: Dance and Music majors admitted by audition only.
Transfer students must select another Arts major and may apply to Arts &
Humanities early in their first year at UC Irvine.

(Student may apply to either Biological Sciences or Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.)
All majors must:

- Complete one year of general chemistry with laboratory with a B or better in each course

Note: Students who wish to be considered for the following majors should follow the required and recommended course prep outlined above: biochemistry and molecular biology, microbiology & immunology, neurobiology, pharmaceutical sciences, developmental and cell biology, genetics, and plant biology. These majors are not available until student is enrolled at UCI.

- Complete one year of micro- and macro-economics theory
(equivalent to UC Irvine's Economics 20A-B)
Note: Additional computer science courses beyond the two required are strongly recommended, particularly those that align with the major(s) of interest. Java is used extensively in the curriculum; therefore, transfer students should plan to learn it by studying on their own or by completing a Java-related programming course prior to their first quarter at UCI.
