What is TAG?

TAG - UC Irvine's Transfer Admission Guarantee program - offers on-the-spot provisional admission to well-qualified students from participating California community colleges.   • any coursework from a four-year college/university;
  • any coursework from an out-of-state college/university.

Students who may not qualify for TAG and who wish to apply for admission to UC Irvine through the regular application process are encouraged to submit their transfer application during the appropriate deadline period for the quarter they wish to enter. They also should check with UC Irvine's Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools to learn which specific quarters at UC Irvine will be open for entry. Apply online at www.ucop.edu/pathways.

Intersegmental General education transfer curriculum (IGETC)

IGETC is a series of courses California community college students can complete in lieu of UCI's general education requirements. IGETC is an option for students who know they want to transfer but don't know which major they would like to pursue. Visit www.assist.org.

Please note that IGETC may not be ideal for students interested in engineering majors. Prospective engineering students should consult with UCI's Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools to learn about the specific requirements.
