International Undergraduate Preparation Program (IUPP)

The Standard for Academic Success
To support students intending to apply for admission to UCI, we offer a program for international high school graduates who wish to improve their academic and/or language skills.  Offered through UCI Extension, this comprehensive, 9-12 month program gives qualified international high school graduates essential skills as they prepare to apply to a bachelor’s degree program in the United States.

Students in IUPP enroll in one quarter of 10-Week Intensive English as a Second Language, and two quarters of undergraduate academic courses. Individual student progress is closely monitored and supported by IUPP advisors. Throughout the program, specially designed activities help participants feel more comfortable with the UCI campus, its abundant resources, and its academic rigor.

Features of the IUPP

  • An accredited academic program tailored to the needs of individual students
  • Linguistic and cultural preparation, followed by enrollment in credit bearing courses that count toward a degree at UCI, if admitted.
  • One-on-one academic advising from a qualified, dedicated academic advisor, including UCI application assistance
  • A 20-hour American Academic Culture course designed to prepare you to succeed in your UCI studies
  • A 30-hour SAT preparation course
  • A 30-hour TOEFL preparation course
  • Tutoring in English and university study skills
