Request Your Official Transcripts and Test Scores

Final official transcripts and test scores are due in the Office of Admissions by July 15, 2008. The UCI Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools must receive the following:

YOUR OFFICIAL FINAL TRANSCRIPT, as soon as your grades are posted, from the school you currently attend. If you are entering UCI from high school, request this transcript before the end of your senior year. Your final high school transcript must show the exact date of your graduation. ("Class of '07" is not acceptable.)

OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS FROM ALL COLLEGES YOU HAVE ATTENDED. Also, if you are a transfer student, you must have your final high school transcript sent to us as well, including students who have completed a GED.

IF APPLICABLE, your official Advanced Placement exam and International Baccalaureate score reports.

TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE RECEIVED AT UCI BY THE FOLLOWING DEADLINES:

  • Final transcripts for students admitted for fall 2008 must arrive by July 15, 2008. Additional, updated official transcripts of summer session courses must arrive no later than September 15, 2008.

  • Final transcripts for students admitted for winter and spring 2009 are due no later than one month after you complete the term at the school you are currently attending.
THERE MAY BE A HOLD PLACED ON YOUR REGISTRATION unless we receive your transcripts by the deadlines indicated. Delays in receiving official transcripts can jeopardize your financial aid and/or housing possibilities. Delays also will disadvantage you in the academic advising process and can affect enrollment in appropriate courses. If you have questions, call your admissions counselor.

Placement Testing

Many courses require placement test results in order for you to register. Make sure you visit the website below to obtain important testing information.

Placement Exams

UC Analytical Writing Placement Exam, May 10, 2008

If you are a freshman student entering UCI in fall quarter, 2008, you must take the UC Analytical Writing Exam on May 10, 2008. Enrollment in any English composition course at UCI is dependent upon the results of this exam, unless UCI has on record by April 1, 2008, that you have met the Analytical Writing requirement through one of the following options:

  1. You have received a score of 30 or better on the ACT Combined English/Writing test; or
  2. You have received a score of 680 or better on the College Board SAT-II Writing Test; or
  3. You have received a score of 680 or better on the College Board SAT Reasoning Test, Writing section; or
  4. You have received a score of 3, 4, or 5 on either of the two College Board Advanced Placement Examinations in English; or
  5. You have received a score of 5 or above on the International Baccalaureate's (IB) Higher Level English A Examination; or
  6. You have received a score of 6 or above on the International Baccalaureate's (IB) Standard Level English A Examination; or
  7. You have completed a transferable college English composition course with a grade of "C" or better; or
  8. You have achieved a satisfactory ACT, SAT Writing or AP English score
ALL STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT SATISFIED ANALYTICAL WRITING BY ONE OF THE ABOVE OPTIONS are required to take the UC Analytical Writing Placement Exam before they can enroll in any required writing course at UCI. For out-of-State students and students unable to take the May 10 exam, the exam will also be given on campus during Welcome Week in September. Be advised, however, that if you wait until Welcome Week to take the exam, you will not be able to enroll in a writing course until winter quarter, 2009 at the earliest.

WHATEVER YOUR ANALYTICAL WRITING EXAM RESULTS ARE, they have no influence on your admissibility to UCI. If you have any questions regarding the UC Analytical Writing Placement Exam, please check the UC Analytical Writing Placement Exam web page at www.ucop.edu/sas/awpe or call(800)839-8507, or contact your high school counselor. You may call the UCI Testing Office at (949) 824-6207 to register for the Welcome Week (September 2008) exam. If you have questions about UCI's preparatory writing courses, call the Composition Office at (949)824-6717.

PLACEMENT EXAMS
UCI administers placement examinations to new students to ensure correct placement in certain introductory courses.

EXAMS ARE OFFERED IN chemistry, mathematics (precalculus and mathematical analysis), physics, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Academic English/English-as-a-second-language. All necessary placement exams should be completed before you attend an academic advising session; therefore, we strongly advise you to take your placement exams as early as possible.
