VERY IMPORTANT Information About
Test Scores
Freshmen applicants entering UC Irvine as freshmen in fall 2007 must submit
official test scores to UC Irvine for the following tests:
- the ACT Assessment plus Writing test*,
or
- the SAT Reasoning Test* (critical reading, mathematics, and writing)
* The verbal, mathematics, and writing scores must be from the same
sitting. Students who take the ACT must report their composite score.
In addition, all applicants must complete two SAT Subject Tests in two
different subject areas: history, literature, mathematics (Level 2 only),
science, or language other than English.
Note: Do not use the score choice option to withhold reporting of
SAT Subject Test scores. UC considers only a student's highest SAT
Subject Test scores so there is no advantage to withholding scores.
NOTE: The Henry Samueli School of Engineering recommends that freshmen
applicants in Engineering majors take the SAT Subject Test in math
Level 2.
Frehsman applicants who graduated from high school in spring 2005 or
earlier are required to have taken the SAT I: Reasoning Test (or ACT) and
three SAT II: Subject Tests which must include (a) writing, (b) mathematics
(Level 1, 1C or 2C), and (c) one from among English literature, language
other than English, sciences, or social studies, prior to high school
graduation.
If you have not already done so, you must request that all testing
agencies send your scores to UC Irvine. Also, in your application for admission
you listed dates on which you plan to take any remaining or repeated tests.
If your testing plans change, contact your UC Irvine admissions counselor.
To ensure that UC Irvine receives your test-result information on time, so that
your application does not have a "hold" placed on it due to nonreceipt of
the results, please review the items below, which describe things that you
can do to help assure an on-time receipt:
- Did you use the same name on both your undergraduate application
and on all of your tests?
Or, did you use another form of your name, or
a nickname? If the latter, immediately notify UC Irvine of the additional names
used.
- When reviewing your test scores(s), make sure there are no spelling
errors in your name on the score report(s).
If you find a misspelling,
advise UC Irvine of the precise misspelling.
- Do your test score report(s) show your correct Social Security
Number and birth date?
If not, let UC Irvine know what discrepancies
you find in those data points. Also, let UC Irvine know if either the
Social Security Number or your birth date are missing from your score
report(s).
- If you have an SAT-II exam report, check to see if it has a pound
sign ("#") placed before the names of the exams that you took.
If
you find a "#," it means that you need to release your score report to
UCI. To do that, call the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and ask them
to release the score(s). ETS's phone number is (800) 728-7267. If you
do not advise ETS to release your SAT-II score(s) to us, they will not
release them and will only release any SAT I score(s) you have.
- If you took the test(s) in two or more separate years, you must
state you want the score results for all years to be sent/released
to UC Irvine.
Otherwise, the testing service will release only one year of
results. UC Irvine considers only the highest composite SAT I score, and the highest
individual SAT II scores.
